Ford as built data by vin5/30/2024 ![]() Ford As-Built Data by VIN: A Learning Experience ![]() From my own personal experience, I've never had any trouble obtaining or writing as-built data during module replacement, new or used, on this vintage Ford, whether through FMP, FJDS, or scan tool. This post may not be any new information, but it was a learning experience for me. Yes, I know that as-built data is a vehicle/module specific calibration file that gets written into a module during PMI (Powertrain Module Initialization) and contains the specific characteristics for that particular module in that particular application. However, until recently, I never thought much about Ford's as-built data beyond just writing it to a new module. Recently, I had an opportunity to delve deeper into the world of as-built data, specifically on my vintage Ford vehicle. As-built data is used to ensure that a replacement module functions correctly and maintains the same settings as the original module. The data includes information such as sensor calibrations, adaptive learning values, and other parameters specific to the vehicle. In order to access this data, I used Forscan software, which allows me to read and write as-built data for my Ford vehicle. Through this process, I was able to learn more about how the data is structured and what information it contains. Overall, my experience with Ford's as-built data has been a valuable learning experience. It has given me a greater appreciation for the complexity of modern vehicles and the importance of accurate calibration data.
